The first time I applied the textured paste, it felt like pulling something hidden up from under the water. With every stroke, the flower emerged a little more, first a suggestion of a petal, then the curve of another, then the deep, quiet center where everything begins.
The lotus is a paradox I’ve always loved: rooted in the dark, opening into the light. This piece is my meditation on that. The base layer is thick and almost crude, but from it rises this delicate form, as if softness is being carved out of roughness.
